Payment

All designs, whether premade adopts or customs, are paid for upfront via Stripe invoice. Stripe is a PayPal alternative that functions similarly; you do not need an account or anything except an email address and a card to pay your invoice. When purchasing, please include your email address so that I can invoice you! All my invoices also include a small processing fee to cover the portion of the invoice taken by Stripe; this is usually about a dollar or two and ensures that I get the full price of the adopt instead of having that couple dollars shaved off after you pay. I will not transfer the design to you on ToyHouse or otherwise provide the unwatermarked art to you until after I have received payment.

Currently I am willing to hold a design for you for up to 3 days; if after that deadline you do not pay, the adopt will be put up for sale again. Repeated failure to follow through on hold requests will result in me no longer being willing to do business with you.

At this time I am not willing to entertain payment plans.

Please note that your payment of an invoice constitutes agreement to these TOS and my commissions TOS, and it will be presented as evidence of such in the event of a chargeback or dispute.

Trading/gifting/
reselling

If you want, you can inform me if you trade, gift, or resell a design that I made! I like to keep track of what's happening with them. You are welcome to trade, gift, or resell your adopt as you see fit. If you resell, please do not sell it for more than you paid unless you have additional commissioned artwork of the adopt, and do not sell it for more than the combined sale price + commission price! You may sell an adopt you received as a gift or in trade, but please adhere to this pricing restriction so as to avoid scalping.

If you purchase an adopt from me that you decide you no longer want, you're welcome to return it to me and I will either refund a portion of your purchase price (to be determined at my discretion) or do some art for you as compensation, whichever you prefer! What happens to it then is under my purview; I may keep it, I may redesign and resell it, I may gift or trade it.

Once you purchase an adopt from me, it is yours to do with as you wish. You may change anything about its appearance that you like to your satisfaction! This includes but is not limited to color, gender, hairstyle, simplifying/changing markings, name/age, species, personality, etc. I would strongly prefer that some spirit of the original design remain even after you rework it -- IE, do not buy an adopt from me just to redesign it completely to get around the commission price for a custom design; if I catch you doing this you will be barred from doing further business with me and I will make every effort to repossess the original design. If you like my design work but there's nothing up for sale that you want, contact me about a custom design! I'll happily work closely with you to ensure that you get a design that's to your liking!
Also, this is just a preference, but please do not whitewash adopts you purchase from me or otherwise erase features that I have added purposefully — I work hard to make diverse adopts with varying races, body types, LGBT status, and physical abilities. I ask that you celebrate that and try to work it into your stories rather than erase it. Of course I can’t stop you from doing this, but I strongly prefer that you do not!

When you purchase an adopt from me, you're welcome to ask me for small edits (color swaps/small tweaks to linework) to the original art for free. If you would like larger edits to be made, we can discuss payment!

REDESIGNING

I am experienced in doing custom character design work for clients; most of my experience in this area is with DND characters, but I'm comfortable outside that genre. I will not design MYOs for closed species characters or do redesign work for them unless we have a pre-existing artist-client relationship.

I work very closely with clients on customs to ensure that the end result of your one-off/species design is something you'll be pleased with. The most reliable ways to get in touch with me are through email and Discord. I will check in with you frequently and ask your input on traits, markings, clothing, and other cosmetic options. You can have as much or as little input on the design as you wish; you can dictate everything and simply have me produce the drawing, you can give me a general idea/moodboard and set me to work, or you can give me free reign to do as I see fit! I'm comfortable with anything in between and I will work to your satisfaction. Please refer to my commission information for specific pricing regarding custom character design; I recommend flat colors or reference sheets for this purpose.

Please be as specific in your requests as is appropriate and don't hesitate to speak up early in the process if you have an idea/change your mind/see something you don't think you like. For any design, there’s no such thing as too much information! You are encouraged to tell me about their personality, a (brief) history of the world they’re part of, nuances to their race and class/job, and send me sketches (even if you’re not an artist — it’s helpful for me to see what’s in your head!) to give me more building blocks to work with and add details to make your character feel more alive. I love hearing the details!

SPECIFICALLY FOR DND DESIGNS: I have my own “redesigned” versions of some of the DnD races to try and introduce some more visual diversity into them; if you’d like me to add my own flair to your character, please let me know! I’m open to tweaking other races upon request. An example of some of these changes is below, many of them can be customized to fit your character’s theme and backstory. (Unless you specifically ask for this, I will default to the standard/PHB appearance/the appearance in your references, if any!)

CUSTOM DESIGNS

GENERAL ART PERMISSIONS

When you receive art from me, you own only non-commercial rights to that art and character design — if you would like to make merch of your design or use my work in some other way that falls outside of personal use, you’ll need to purchase commercial rights and discuss it with me. Here are some general rules governing use of my art!

  • Do not edit my artwork in any way. This includes changing colors, cropping/editing out my signature, tracing/using as a base, etc.
The one singular exception to this rule involves use of my art as profile pics or website decoration. Since this usually requires cropping, it is acceptable provided you follow the other rules below.

  • Do not repost my art. Currently I have a presence on Tumblr, Twitter, Inkblot, and ToyHouse. With the exception of ToyHouse, you are not permitted to repost any of my art on any site. If you have commissioned me for art of an OC/character you own, you may post that art on their ToyHouse/use it as your PFP/etc. You may post my art in Discord servers/for entries to art raffles/etc. with credit. You may use fanart as PFP/etc. provided you follow the other rules below. If you are not my client, you are not permitted to use art of someone else's/my OC in any way. Reposting is not permitted, and if I find you have reposted my work outside of the permissions listed here, I will do everything in my power to get my work removed. I do not take this lightly. Reposting is inappropriate, even if you credit me or "credit the original artist."

  • When you use my work on ToyHouse or as your PFP/banner/etc., you MUST provide visible attribution. I prefer that this be a link back to one of my sites in your blog description/about page/pinned Tweet/etc. or following ToyHouse’s attribution rules. Reposting my work in order to credit me for its use is NOT an appropriate way to do so.

  • If you're unsure about whether something is okay, always ask me first! You will not get in trouble for asking, the worst that can happen is I say no.
